We will be traveling from New York City up the East coast. Can anyone recommend places to stay from NYC to Maine? Love the great outdoors .

Old Lyme CT was a lovely spot from what I recall on my stay there years ago. Providence RI is a compact city good for exploring on foot with an Italian neighborhood (i.e. restaurants), the RISD museum and Brown University to explore. Over on the Cape, I love Cotuit beaches and spts to kayak. I'm a big fan of Portsmouth NH, good area if you like biking. Maine, I've hiked and camped in Acadia NP and never ran out of outdoor activities to do there. Be sure to explore Portland, ME too, great restaurants with local artisan foods and produce/fish. over 7 years ago

In going to Oahu for seven days is renting a car necessary what don't I want to miss.?

I'd say you want to be able to get around the island and a car is the most flexible, speedy and efficien way of doing that. you won't need a car the entire time as access to Pearl Harbor and even Hanauma Bay is easy with public transport, but getting over to explore the North Shore and spots in-between you'll want a car. Rents one for 2-3 days! over 7 years ago

Getting from mainland Europe to London

Agree with above, go Eurotunnel. Look at daily London papers for some deals that may be advertised (daily mirror, daily mail, the sun) over 7 years ago

Hi,I will be travelling Paris in early May and will be staying in Montmartre. Is it safe to stay there as I would be travelling alone. Tks.

From my recollection of being in Paris and that neighborhood, it was safe, but the usual city at night precautions apply; don't walk in dark alleys, walk with a sense of purpose, get to know the area streets around the hotel and make a mental map. over 7 years ago

    Studying in Korea

Pick a bank that is international to ease any transfers or use if ATMs. Seoul is extremely modern, so supermarkets, ATMs shops, and transport are top notch, and better than many other cities in the world. over 7 years ago

Looking for a great breakfast place in Berkeley or Oakland

Hands down, Meal Ticket on San Pablo & Gilman. Annies in Claremont hood of Oakland, during business hours of the fruit and veg market, the Oakland Grill on 3rd has a lot of local character. I love Cafe 817 on Washington, especially during the Friday farmers market. Mamas Royal on Broadway has great retro vibe. For southern menu Aunt Marys on Telegraph in Temescal, or Brown Sugar in west Oakland, which is in a safe if saran part of Oakland. Not to overlook north Berkeley area, but Jodies on Masonic off Solano is a gem of a place. 6 stools and a few tables outside, it's a local institution and fave, with no shortage of menu combos and zingy banter between the regulars. over 7 years ago

Santa Barbara or Mendocino, can only do one

Great answer by Zbag! Agree. Very different. If you like a more rugged and wild coastline bordered by redwoods and meandering rolling countryside , then Mendocino is your spot. Lots of artists and agricultural influences. If you want more beach, town, shopping, 'upscale', then Santa Barbara. over 7 years ago
