Well December is a relative cold month. if i had to go on an island on December, I would go for a big island and south. Best choice here is Crete. Another option is to see how the weather is and if sunny and relative warm, you can always hope to Aegina, Agkistri, Hydra, Spetses or Poros. All of them are about 2 hours by boat away from Pireaus (the port of Athens). about 7 years ago
a week road-trip.from Athens to meteora for 2nights.Then Zagoria for 3nights.recommendation of a place on the way back to Athens?
as you go down from Zagoria to Patras and then turning right to Athens, you go down along the Pindos Mountain Complex (from Ioannina to Mesologi) In the mountain complex of Pindos there are dozen sceneric villages that you can stop by for a night of so (if you are in for some more mountain scenery on top of the zagoria that you will have already seen). Also if you are into activities there several river activities such as kayak/rafting that you can do. Ancient Olympia in not exactly on the route back to Athens, but a small detour that it is definetely worth the extra 100 (or so kms back and forth). about 8 years ago
what is there to do in athens for a lone traveller at night? and where is the best place to stay within airport and trains ?
Probably the most convinient place to stay bewteen aiport and trains is Syntagma Square area. Not the most beautiful area but very handy due to metro connections buses and tram (if you go to the seaside). As a lone traveller you can go for a scroll around PLAKA (old town), go to the Acropolis Museum, get the tram and go to Glyfada for shopping stroll close to seaside, go out at night at Monastiraki, Psiri area for a drink, take a bus and visit Sounio - south tip of Athens (Posidon temple) and while going there enjoy all the riviera of Athens. over 8 years ago
