Family with 3 teenagers going to Sorrento in July. Any suggestions for reasonable hotel very welcome. Thanks.

We used hotels.com for our hotel which I wouldn't recommend incidentally because the noise from the hotel next doors kitchen was terrible but there are some really great offers and hotels on the site. over 4 years ago

I'm visiting the UK at some point this year, before summer. What are some of your favorite places to go, off the beaten path?

And look on this site, lots of questions similar to yours and if you browse through them you'll get some ideas. http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Tourism-g186216-United_Kingdom-Vacations.html over 4 years ago

You know, I don't think you have enough time in a month to do everything. Skara Brae is Orkney so I'd suggest you fly to Scotland, either at the end of your trip or the very beginning. As I said, you can book internal flights using a cheap carrier such as easyjet. Ryan air looks cheap but when you factor in the add ons, possibly not. Edinburgh is a must if you're in Scotland. There's Hadrians Wall which is in the north of England and following down, Lake District although that's not really 'off the beaten track'. Liverpool, home of the Beatles, Chester, beautiful town. Snowdonia in Wales, Stratford upon Avon, (Shakespeare), Bath, Stonehenge, Exmoor & Quantocks, steepholme, flatholme, (Somerset), Eden Project, Dartmoor, (Cornwall). Don't know Ireland. There's so much to see! over 4 years ago

It would depend on how long you have and your budget and interests. Scotland is lovely but you would probably need to hire a car to see the best bits. I'm going to assume you'll fly into London so I'd probably spend a couple of days there. From there, you could fly to Scotland which is probably the easiest using easyjet. Or you could go south following the coast towards Cornwall visiting the Eden project and dartmoor. Then you could go across to Devon and Somerset (Exmoor)following the coastal route. And there's some fab countryside in Wales too. And then there's the Lake District and also the Peak District. If you post your interests and time allocated to your trip you'll probably get more info. Have a great trip though. over 4 years ago

How to travel from Naples to sorrento

Ditto Matthew F. You don't have to wait at the large ticket boxes but go down the escalator and buy your ticket there. Do watch you bags though. I'm soooo careful, have different purses with everything zipped in over shoulder bags etc and my purse was stolen with all my cards and £'s. But, having said all that, thoroughly enjoyed Naples and Sorrento so have a great trip. You can get a bus back to the airport from Sorrento outside the train station for approx €10 each. over 4 years ago

Hotel for missed connecting flight and baggage delay?

You won't miss your connecting flight....will you? However, worst case scenario, most airports have hotels very close so don't worry. Put spare undies and a top into your hand luggage. You can probably manage for a day without a change of clothes. over 4 years ago

Country type self catering accommodation for 2 people in SW England in June, near interesting place we can visit by car.

Most accommodation these days have en suite rooms....even little pubs. Neither Weymouth or Brighton are South West. I'd probably head for Devon or Cornwall perhaps staying along the coast working your way from Lyme Regis down to Darmouth, Plymouth, Truro, Penzance, Tintagel. There's a beautiful hotel overlooking Tintagel castle called Camelot Castle Hotel, not cheap but good food and 'shabby 'chic' decor. Then there's Glastonbury, Bath and so on. I could go on for ever! Contact me and I can send you some leaflets if you like. over 4 years ago
