What should be the first thing to looking into when looking to work in Australia?

Tax files can be received through Australian Taxation Office http://www.ato.gov.au/ You should be able to organise it before you come over through the website, as it could take a month. Another website to look at is the Department of Immigration and Citizenship http://www.immi.gov.au/ It is important that your visa allows work while in Australia. As for transport it depends on the location of work, with Australia being so big bus and rail networks vary in quality dependant on the area. about 7 years ago

What is a good, cheap apartment-type place for two people to stay in the Perth area?

Hopefully this reply isn't too late, Lisa and Brenton are correct, Perth real estate is tight and expensive. I agree with Brenton in that it depends what you are here for, if there is something specific in Perth that you are here for, I hope you find somewhere (probably need to be a bit out of the city), otherwise go North or go South. There isnt another capital town like Perth but they do have a lot to offer. South - Busselton, Margaret River, Denmark, Albany, Dunsborough etc. It is a long stretch of coast, beautiful blue water, white sand little towns and Margaret River is WA's wine region with some very nice wineries. North - Coral coast of WA is again small towns with amazing scenery and a lot to do. The pinnacles (2 hrs from Perth) Geraldton, Kalbarri (fishing, canoe down murchison), Monkey Mia (dolphins), Exmouth (snorkelling, diving, swim with whale sharks, fishing), The kimberleys and karijini (Mitchells plateau, kings cascade etc). The scenery is more Australian out back and very picturesque as opposed to Perth being a city. Hope that provided a bit of clarification. about 7 years ago

How would you organize a 3 day stay in NYC? We're staying right across from the Rockefeller Centre. Don't mind a lot of walking. 1st visit.

Hi, I did 3 days in NYC last yr as a first as well and if you want to maximise sightseeing i would recommend getting the New York Pass from planet hollywood. It has a map showing where everything is and gets access to a lot of attractions. I managed to squeeze a ridiculous amount in by coming up with an itinerary (museum of modern art, met, planetarium, guggenheim, 3 river cruise, intrepid + lots more). Staying near Rockefeller Centre make sure you do top of the rock (central park, empire state and chrysler building views). I enjoyed this more than empire state building and it took 15 mins to get to top, compare to 2 hrs 45 mins for empire state. about 7 years ago
