Is Eurorail the best means of back packing around Europe?
You can travel by bus super cheap in parts of Europe. I went from Riga, Latvia to Warsaw, Poland, 1 15-hour trip for under $20US. Check out companies like EuroLines, EcoLines, Orange, etc. For your train questions there is a great amount of information at Seat61.com. almost 9 years ago

I want to travel from Turkey to Bundapest by road/train
You will have to go by bus from Istanbul to Thessaloniki or take a train to the border since Greece terminated international train travel in Feb, 2011. I did the journey in the opposite direction a few months ago. It was about a nine-hour trip and cost around $35USD. Can you not get into Bulgaria or Romania at all? Sofia to Belgrade to Budapest is the most direct train route IIRC. almost 9 years ago

What is the best way to get from Mykonos to Izmir in Turkey? Cheapest, fastest & easiest (I know I want it all). Travelling in early June.
check out the Turkey Travel Planner's Transportation page. It really was useful during my visit in November 2011. http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/trans/ almost 9 years ago
