25 year old musician, pretty much constantly on tour in confusing places.
Hanover Park, United States
You and your wife are going to the right place! It's literally packed with history, churches, great views, food and drink. Anywhere in the center of the city should yield heaps of that, and if you're up to trek - the outskirts of the city have a more rustic beauty. If you have a free day/night take a train out to Sintra. It's untouched history. Looks like no one has changed anything since the 1800s (castles, mountains, majesty). Inside Lisbon though you don't need to look towards touristy destinations to see everything you listed. Pombal Square is a good place to start out. about 7 years ago
