We were recently in Hoi An and I loved it. We cycled on quiet roads and enjoyed the scenery. A favorite stop was at the amazing vegetable gardens being lovingly tended. The town had great shopping with shoes and clothing made to order overnight at great prices. The restaurants were abundant and delicious. The ocean and beach were great. Da Nang looked more high end and commercial but that was just an impression. I loved Hoi An. over 8 years ago
Two hours would be a whirlwind tour but the old town is worth it. The people are friendly and helpful but you will leave wanting more! It can take 45 mins from the airport and when the traffic is bad it is horrid. Consider the time of day that you would be there. :) over 8 years ago
Hi, I'm looking at going to Vietnam and would like some advice on things to do / where to go? Best place fly into etc?
That is a big open question. It might be helpful to know how much time you have, what your interests are and that sort of thing. We have just been there but as part of a tour so I don't know about public transportation but there is much to see and enjoy. The people are warm and friendly. Hanoi and Saigon are big cities and busy is an understatement but worth seeing. Ha Long Bay is outstanding and I loved Hoi An and Cat Ba. It's a place to start. over 8 years ago
