Is it safe for US citizens to travel to Bali in May since the alleged terrorist threats from March 2012?

Hi Dana I just come back from 6 weeks in Bali and I will return to Bali soon again. The Balinese takes terrorism seriously, and haven taken lots of precautions to avoid another attack. I would say that the chance of running in to some mad man in Bali isn't any bigger than it is almost anywhere else in the world. To be honest, fear of terrorism has never struck my while in Bali and I haven't felt the need to avoid any place in particular - including the clubs. I really hope you decide to go ahead with your plans. Bali is a lovely place with some lovely people and I am sure you will have an unforgettable trip. over 8 years ago

Is Mt Agung or Mt Batur a better/ more interesting trek in Bali?

Mt. Agung is definitely the most challenging and I would say the most interesting too. You can easily arrange the trip from Bali, so no need to book in advance. If you are going any time soon it is going to be in the wet season, so it might be impossible to climb on some days due to bad weather and muddy tracks, but you probably wont know that until the day before the climb, so its a god idea to have a flexible itinerary. Also if it's possible to climb Agung around full moon that is preferable. If you want a little longer trekking trip I can recommend Mt. Rinjani in Lombok. The normal route is a 3 day trek and the views from the summit are truly spectacular and it is a great trek - can only be done in the the dry season. about 8 years ago

Where is the best place to go Windsurfing in Bali?

Hi Kate I am not a windsurfer and actually it is fairly rare that I see someone windsurfing in Bali. I have seen windsurfers (and quite a few kitesurfers) in Sanur and I know you can rent windsurfing gear in Sanur, so I would say Sanur is among the best spots in Bali. about 7 years ago
