Yes, perfect. There are a lot of sagras, which are festivals usually related to food. Grapes are being harvested, it is not as hot, Italians are rested from their August holiday. Some hotels may charge "shoulder season" rates if later in the month. over 6 years ago
25th wedding anniversary trip to Italy, have 2 wks what are the must sees for regular touristy places & the not so touristy but gotta see?
Umbria is lovely and less touristy, and like Tuscany will take your breath away. If you go to either, you really need a car to explore as the smaller towns are not easy to reach by train. From Florence it is easy to take bus tours/trips to Siena, Pisa, San Gimigiano(?) A note on Cinque Terre, which is so gorgeous and very romantic. Two of the five towns, Vernazza and Monterosso, suffered severe damage from floods in late Oct., but check out the other three towns. You get to CT by train or ferry, highly recommended. over 6 years ago
Italy has been very cold, it even snowed in Rome few days ago. I am leaving for Florence in two weeks, gonna layer, layer, layer. You will be further south so I think rain gear is a good idea. over 6 years ago
