Vietnam Itinerary -- Are we crazy or smart???

This is very doable, personally I would also scrap nin binh in favour of an extra day in phnom penh. As regards to flying Hanoi-luang prabang I'm almost certain that this is possible with Lao airlines, I have flown direct lp-Hanoi so would expect there to be a return service. over 7 years ago

what type of electric plug sockets do they have?

Be warned Laos outlets have blown two of my travel adapters in the past. Keep an eye on it and if starts to get really hot unplug the adapter for a while and let it cool off. over 7 years ago

how do i book the gibbon experience

You can book via phone or email, contact details can be found on the gibbon experience website http://www.gibbonexperience.org/gibbon_contact.php Alternatively you can simply turn up at there ticket office in either Houay xai or luang nam tha and book on directly. You may have to wait a few days but is ok if your not sure when you will be in the area. Two experiences are offered, one trip that has less trekking, more zips but more people or the waterfall experience where you trek out to a waterfall and back to camp. I did the waterfall variation which was probably more rewarding but be prepared for leeches and some pretty tough trekking if you decide on this option. Have a wicked time and enjoy your time in se Asia. over 7 years ago

What is cheapest way to yangshuo from macau. Anyone know overnight bus schedule/price?..

Hi Rebekah, I did this journey in reverse a couple of months ago. I took an overnight sleeper bus to Guangzhou which I booked through my hostel (monkey janes) in youngshou for about $15 us,This part of the trip takes around 9hrs. After this I got completely lost as know one in guangzhou seemed to know where macau was, I ended up taking a local bus to Guangdong and then another to zhuhai which is on the china Macau border. These last two buses were really uncomfortable and took around 12hrs to get me from Guangzhou to zhuhai. In retrospect it would have been easier, quicker and more comfortable to get the direct sleeper bus from youngshou to Shenzhen on the hong kong border and then a boat across to Macau. You can do this in reverse. I hope this helps a bit, have a wicked time in china! almost 8 years ago

We have about 2 weeks in Laos. Any recommendations?

From chiang rai go to chiang khong, this is the best place to cross over to ban Houay xai. I would suggest a slow boat rather than the fast boat as the fast boat is dangerous and very uncomfortable, you will be wearing a crash helmet and holding on for 10 hours on the journey down to luangphrabang. The slow boat does take two days stopping at pak beng overnight but is far more tolerable! almost 8 years ago
