Hi Sara, usually the hotel will still be able to check in your boyfriend and yourself into a room as long as both of you are not UAE citizen. Expats and tourist usually can check in whether married or not. However, it is required to present your passports at the front desk. Also, hotels will also usually lock the minibars since the legal age for consuming alcohol will be 21 years old. This is to my best knowledge living in the Middle East for a couple of years... but their rules and regulations also change from time to time so it's best to check in advance by contacting the hotel you have in mind directly via email or call the reservations. over 3 years ago
It's fine really, but avoid walking by yourself at the Waterfront after midnight. If you must, stick to locations in that area which are highly populated by people e.g. food stalls. over 7 years ago
Sri Aman or formerly known as Simanggang is about 2 hours drive from Kuching. A very small quaint town, this place gets packed during the tidal bore or also known as 'Benak'. Sri Aman is famous for the benak of the Batang Lupar River. The tidal bore comes in from the river mouth and fills up the river very rapidly in the course of about 10 minutes. The wave crest at Sri Aman is up to 2 to 3 metres high. This is one of approximately 400 rivers and estuaries in the world where this phenomenon happens. There is a timetable at the river which has the time and dates for when the tidal bore will occur, but the really big ones occur only a couple of times a year. over 7 years ago
