Where are the safest hotels in Rome?

We stayed at Hotel Principe Eugenio, close to main train station. Not sure if it was in a safe area - but we never had any problems almost 7 years ago

suggested 12 day itineary to first time traveler to italy

Obviously days in Rome for all attractions there, high speed train to Naples - Pompeii, walk up Vesuvius and take a boat trip over to Capri (grotta azzura not to be missed), up to Florence, then Pisa, check out Milan then over to Venice & possibly head south again. Really depends on what you want to see. Take high speed trains if you can afford them, quicker, comfortable & less people. almost 7 years ago

My husband and I are visiting athens, Mykonos and santorini in June. Any suggestions on activities while we are there?

Hire a moped in Mykonos cruise around, it's not a massive island but its lots of fun, awesome beaches and get lost navigating/shopping/eating Little Venice. Must is a day trip to Delos - the sacred island. Athens try Attalos Hotel, close to all the action, trains, markets, sights and best food oh and rooftop bar looking at the Acropolis. Stayed there and it was great. Also try and squeeze in a trip to Delphi, where the ancients used to hear the Gods, wonderful ruins, great cafes. Santorini - make sure your hotel is close to Fira or you will need to hire a car (be sure to read the fine print re:insurance) definitely try and do a boat trip to the 'center' of the volcano (wish I did it), donkey ride up/down the steps is a must! Overall we did lots of walking around in all 3 places and loved them all!! Hope you have a fantastic time over 7 years ago

I'll be in Italy for 8 days.

Try an book your accommodation in advance, that way you know how much that will cost. Try to factor in high speed trains too, they are more expensive, but very much worth it, especially if traveling alone as you won't get hassled as much, also great on time. Not sure on cheap places to stay, do a google search on bed and breakfast in each area you go to. Hope this helps! over 7 years ago

Can someone recommend a reasonably priced nice hotel in Venice? Must be close to attractions and easy access to cruise terminal and POI.

Try hotel Calton Capri, it's across the canal from st Lucia train terminal and down an alley (behind the fancy hotel) was €224 incl breakfast and taxes for 2 nights/2 people. For us was reasonably priced, nice and great service. B/fast is a big buffet so you can fill up for the day too! over 7 years ago
