Want is the average basic meal price at restaurants in Australia? what would I expect to pay for a sandwich for example?

For a rough budget in Australia - I used to advise $20 breakfast, $20 lunch and $40 dinner. This will exceed most meals, but something to aim for. Australia is expensive, if you can stay in an apartment or caravan park etc, you can manage this cheaply by grocery shopping and cooking your own. And I absolutely agree with MrMace - Kangaroo steak! over 7 years ago

Inexpensive beach for retirement. Suggestions please

Indonesia has some magnificent inexpensive beaches that I could imagine myself retiring to! Beyond Bali there are also some other lovely areas, Nusa Penida, Lombok, Gillis, Flores. Keep in mind there are visa issues for longer term stays, and also if you plan to purchase land/house/business etc, there are strict guidelines for foreign ownership. over 7 years ago

Any meditation retreat for Christian in Bali?

There is a Christian church in Palasari (South West) where there is a fairly large Catholic Community and I'm not sure if they hold retreats or not. The village is well kept and the church is a lovely old white bricked building amongst palm trees and rice fields, and there is a beautiful resort close by on the lake (Taman Wana Village) - however I was there in March 2012 and the resort seemed deserted. There is also Protestant Church in nearby Belimbingsari. over 7 years ago

What is the best way for backpackers to travel cheaply around Australia?

Buy a cheap van and drive it around the country. Australia is not cheap, so be prepared to spend a bit of money or earn some along the way. Get one you can sleep in and do a search on places that will allow you to park overnight. The best way is to find little jobs you can do along the way. Fruit picking doesnt pay well, but you do get to meet a lot of great people along the way. over 7 years ago

Aussie girl just moved to London on ancestory visa, been here 3 days, looking to do a tour to get started, meet ppl etc,any ideas..HELP!

Hmmmm - There are a lot of Aussies in Earls Court. Head to a bar, listen for some accents and then introduce yourself ;). You may not want to mix with Aussies (cos you're on holiday and you want to meet others.......), but they will welcome you in and give you some fresh local tips on what they did to meet people. I also did a couple of walking tours around the city, nice way to meet people but mostly my groups tended to be older and in couples. over 7 years ago

Are any parts of Thailand safe for Americans to travel to? We had a Bangkok trip planned but may rework the trip. Advice please.

Hi Cyndee For the moment, travelling to Thailand is very safe for tourists, as long as you stay out of the way of protestors. LIke anywhere, protesting can escalate quite quickly, so avoid the hot spots. Arrange your transport before you depart US, have a hotel car collect you form the airport and keep your passport in your handbag (or close by), incase you're stopped and asked for ID. Hope this helps. Lisa over 5 years ago
