Me and my wife want to travel to either New York City or San Francisco in September, can someone help us decide!

How long have you got, and any reason why you cant do both? My all time fave in the US is NY and September (Autumn) in Central Park is stunning. The red leaves!! Oh! The red leaves. over 7 years ago

Activities to do while in Phuket

What about a trip to the Hands Across the Water orphanage in Khoa Lak? If you take some children's clothes and books, I'm sure they would appreciate it :) http://handsacrossthewater.org.au/ over 7 years ago

A friend & I are planning on traveling to Fiji to explore & island hop for the summer. Any tips? Cheap extended stay/camping/hostels? Thanks

Hmmmm, I think perhaps you have just finished watching the Blue Lagoon. Fiji isn't really a place where you would really think about camping, and fishing for your food. I"m sure you can do it, but it would certainly be frowned upon by the locals. If you are not into resort living (and lets face it, thats Fiji) - then consider renting a private Bure or Villa. They start fairly basic and go to the extreme luxury. To be honest, I found Fiji rather expensive for what it was. over 7 years ago

We are hoping to snorkel the great barrier reef near cairns or pot Douglas. Can you recommend an excursion for Dec?

Im not sure what you mean by excursion, day trip or itinerary? December is not an ideal time to be snorkelling in these areas as there are "stingers" in the water which can be quite harmful. The weather at that time of year is also very hot with high humidity. over 7 years ago

How hard is it for an American who has experience in air traffic control, to get hired in Australia

You would need to have the right to work in Australia to even be considered, and for this you would need to apply through the Dept Immigration. If you have a specialised skill that is lacking in Australia then this might be able to be fast tracked, but considering the currently unemployment figures here, I doubt you would have a lot of luck. over 7 years ago

Where is the best place in Australia for a Brit to move to?

I would highly recommend securing a job before embarking on a family relocation, especially with the current employment situation. Even for tradies, there is no money. Many families have cut back and delayed renovations, etc due to redundancies, job losses and general belt tightening. In saying that, Melbourne is a fast growing city and a really lovely place to live. Its not as expensive as Sydney, but has a great lifestyle in cafes, restaurants, parks etc. As Christy suggested, even smaller towns on the coast can offer a lot to families. Port Macquarie in NSW, as well as Newcastle, and further north are just lovely. over 7 years ago
