credit cards or cash in africa????

It depends which countries in Africa you are planning to visit and if you will be close to a major city. I used my credit card in most major cities, and also used my debit card to withdraw cash for when we were travelling to remote areas and the chance of finding an ATM was low. There are a few western banks across Africa, including ANZ and Barclays. The fees for withdrawals were very high thought (averaged AU$15 per withdrawal) plus other bank charges. If you have an ANZ account and use an International ANZ ATM, you will still be charged, but at a lesser rate. The ANZ International ATM locator is: http://www.locate.anz.com/anz/international but they do not list any African countries. I do happen to know that there is an ANZ ATM in Gabarone, Botswana because I used it. over 7 years ago

Pretty much flat broke in London. Any ideas?

Depending on your nationality, you might be able to find bar work etc. But as you're only going to be there 11 days its unlikely anyone will want to hire you. Have you thought about postponing your trip until you are more financial? London is an expensive city, and while there are a few free activities - you will also need to eat/drink/catch trains. I guess you can always dumpster dive ..... You might find some cheaper accom here: www.agoda.com Or do you know anyone you can stay with for free? Tried couch surfing? over 7 years ago

Where is the best place to buy clothes in New York?

Oh you lucky person shopping for clothes in NY! Soho is great for vintage and quirky. So many vintage shops and little markets on Saturday mornings. Everywhere! Century 21 is a fantastic shop near the old World Trade Centre. Loehmanns in Chelsea for hgiher end bargains. Syms - I forget where this is but I remember going in there and going a bit crazy. I also really like the staples from Old Navy, GAP and Banana Republic. TShirts, pants..... In my ideal life I would have a shopping trip to NY every year to indulge my wardrobe. over 7 years ago

I am Irish travelling to Thailand/Singapore/Cambodia/laos/Vietnam do i need a visa..Im travelling for 3 months in total

Yes to Laos and Vietnam, Cambodia you can get a tourist visa on arrival. (30days). Easier (and cheaper) to organise your visas before you depart (Laos, Vietnam). There are some local agencies who can arrange it for you, but means having them take your passport away for a while (up to a few days) and paying double the price. I tend to be a bit wary of those practices. over 7 years ago
