I am moving to Perth at the end of the year but I do not drive. I have heard transport is very dangerous. Is this true?

What do you mean by dangerous? There is a great train from Perth to Fremantle, safe reliable etc. Also some buses, but not as frequent. about 7 years ago

Our trip to thailand and beyond...?

Wow, this sounds like an amazing trip. How long do you plan to spend in each country. While they are all in Asia, they are all so different. I imagine the route would be UK - Singapore - Thailand - Vietnam - Japan - UK? Clarke Quay, Chilli mud crab (at Red House on the East Coast), shopping on Orchard Road and Night Safaris in Singapore are musts for tourist, and maybe a day relaxing on Senotosa. For me in Thailand I would be more drawn to the mountains in the North - around Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. You can catch a train from Bangkok, a little rustic but the sleeper carriages are ok. (and private). Vietnam, Ha Long Bay. Japan - if you can manage a flight to the island of Okinawa (American military base, but still very interesting) as well as Tokyo (of course). about 7 years ago

How safe is it to sea kayak around Kadavu Islands in Fiji with children?

Thanks so much Phil. I realised I misspelt the name - its Kadavu Island south of Fiji. about 7 years ago

London - please recommend four star accommodation - accessible for sightseeing.

I've stayed in the Hilton in Kensington, and even though it was ranked as 4 star, I'd say it was more a comfortable 2 star (but with a 4 star price tag). It was clean, and the bed made fresh daily but the rooms were tiny and quite dated. I didn't care really, because it was walking distance to everything I needed and only a 20min walk into the city. about 7 years ago

How is the weather end of august? Need to know what type of clothes to bring.

We were in South Africa beginning of September and found it mild during the day and a bit colder of a night time. Cotton shirts were fine and then a jacket at night. about 7 years ago

Looking to chat with bicycling Nomads that live on a very small budget and have an idea of the essential gear to carry.

I'm assuming this is your original question? Where exactly did you have in mind to cycle? Do you have ny hospitality skills? Small business are less likely to employ you on short term jobs (as in a week at a time) because it would take a lot to train you up etc, but if you're staying around longer in one place (ie a month or more) then cafes and bars? Or perhaps you could consider fruit picking, grape harvesting etc during the season. Perhaps you are better joining a cycling forum that would be able to address your questions specifically. I know when we decided to do a major road trip around Africa, we joined the 4WD forums. about 7 years ago
