Flight or bus from Flores Guatemala to Belize city?

Take a bus it's cheaper, and easy. It will take about 5 hours. If you leave at 7 you should be. There by noon. Any tour agency can book you a seat on a bus. Keep in mind you have to walk through the western border and the bus will meet you on the other side. Also it's perfectly safe, so if you're scared of all those scary Guatemalans and Belizians you are a fool. over 7 years ago

Is it safe to travel to Guatamala now ?

I just got back from spending 3 months working and traveling in Guatemala the only place I felt unsafe was Guatemala city. Guatemala gets a bad rap due to a few high profile crimes. If you're smart and don't act like an idiot you'll be safe. The same rule applies anywhere in the world. It really is sad that when ever anyone asks this question people on the Internet who either haven't. Been to Guatemala in years or only go by what they read answer so negatively. Guatemala is a beautiful country with some of the nicest people I've ever met. By the way my 62 year mother went to Guatemala alone a few years ago and felt the same way, and she doesn't speak any Spanish at all. over 7 years ago

Have any suggestions to avoid the confusion of the big tourists groups in Tikal?

Get there early, and strike out on your own, if you don't know about Tikal already, there are plenty of resources to give yourself a tour instead of going with a group where the guide doesn't know the real story of Tikal and the maya almost 8 years ago

Can anybody recommend a good adventure company to take me and my friends snorkeling in the barrier reef, cave tubing, bungee jumping, etc.

If you want to snorkel, I'd recommend ragamuffin tours on caye caulker, they have rum punch and ceviche on the way back in from your trip, they are also reasonably priced. As for cave tubing I would recommend mayawalk tours in San Ignacio, they are located in the middle of town, if your up for an adventure I'd recommend taking a tour of Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) it's a maya site located inside a cave, avoid taking a tour operated by one of the Chinese tour companies as they rush you through the cave in large groups and don't take them time to explain the site properly. almost 8 years ago

    Good places to stay

If you're in San Ignacio check out the San Ignacio Hotel, Martha's Guest House, or the Cahal Pech. If you want to head into the Maya Mountains Francis Ford Coppola has a resort named Blancaneaux Lodge. In Belize City I've only stayed at the sea side guest house and would not repeat the stay. almost 8 years ago
