    Bejing Tattoo artist recommendations

There is a place in the "back alley" behind Sanlitun Village just up a few stairs and above the DVD shop. I've had friends get tattoos there and it is clean and professional almost 8 years ago

What show is better in Beijing - the opera or acrobatics or are both "must see"

You might want to consider the Kung Fu Show at the Red Theatre. Many travellers find the Acrobats shows a bit "cheesy" and lacking in production values while the Chinese Opera is definitely an acquired taste. Of course all of these shows are for tourists (domestic tourists as much as foreign ones if not more). There are some places that have a "variety" show where you can see acts of different cultural performances such as Lao She Teahouse. Maybe that would offer you more what you are looking for? almost 8 years ago

Has anyone been to the Great Wall in winter (early Dec) and is it too cold?

As other posters have said it is cold but still worth it. It will be dark earlier of course but if it is a clear day you can be assured of a spectacular day on the wall and of course the steps and slopes will help you stay warm! Enjoy! almost 8 years ago

What are some "must see"/"must do" things near Beijing? I will be there for about a week.

Some great suggestions above! My list would be: - Great Wall - Lama Temple - Nanluoguxiang & Drum Tower Area - 798 Art District - Temple of Heaven in the early morning - Tiananmen Square + Forbidden City followed by Jingshan Park if the weather is nice - Olympic Park to see the Birds Nest & Water Cube - Shopping at Panjiayuan Market on the weekend - Summer Palace - A night at the National Centre for Performing Arts almost 8 years ago

How best to get from Beijing international airport to Holiday inn (Temple of Heaven) at 36 Nanwei Road. We do not speak Mandarin. Thanks.

A taxi should be simple enough if you don't feel like tackling public transport. As far as I know that hotel is a fair hike from the subway so when you first arrive getting taken straight there might be the way you want to go. Have your address printed out in Chinese characters to give to the taxi driver as well as the hotel's phone number. If the taxi driver doesn't seem to know where to go you can have him call the hotel (or find another taxi driver who knows - it's not a difficult place for them to know). Make SURE you take a taxi from the rank outside the airport. Do not go with anyone who approaches you. Insist the driver use the meter. If they refuse, refuse to go with them and take another cab. almost 8 years ago

How much should I expect to pay for a taxi from the airport to a hotel in Beijing.

Around 100 CNY should be sufficient for a taxi to Central Beijing. Currently there is a 10 CNY airport toll fee and 2 CNY fuel surcharge to be added to what is on the meter. Make SURE the taxi driver uses one. If they refuse, refuse to travel with them. almost 8 years ago
