Is it better to book Angkor tours before or after I arrive in Siem Reap?
If you're spending more than a couple days in Siem Reap, I suggest that you don't see the ruins by tour, but on your own using a tuk tuk. It's too easy to get tired of rushing around seeing ruins one after another all day. Especially in the heat. Do some research to find out what you enjoy most about the ruins then select the ruins you want to see. When you arrive in Siem Reap I strongly recommend that you spend a couple hours in the air conditioned Angkor Museum...it's a wonderful base of knowledge for your actual visit to the sites. over 7 years ago

international cell phone rental for cambodia
I can't help you if what you're looking for is a phone in Cambodia that can call back to North America. But if what you need is a phone that you can use for local calls within Cambodia, you can buy one inexpensively along with a calling plan/card. There are lots of phone stores in Phenom Penh and siem Reap provide. over 7 years ago

Siem Reap in August
For what it’s worth, there are reports that the mystery of the disease has been "solved" http://www.wibw.com/home/headlines/Doctors_Say_Mystery_Cambodian_Illness_is_Solved_162160965.html ...that being said, you should see what your government's travel advisory is for Cambodia. Malaria and dengue are apparently always an issue, especially in the rainy season (surprisingly, mosquitoes weren't that much of a problem for me last October after the floods)....as you probably already know, there are pills for Malaria but not for dengue. I've been to Siem Reap twice, for a total of about four weeks, and have not been infected. If you go, make sure you have lots of insect repellant. :-) over 8 years ago
