How easy is it to get a job in London?

It depends upon the type of job you are looking for. If you are experienced in serving/bartending VERY easy. I applied for a job at the temp agency known as Berkeley Scott in Hammersmith and I had a job that evening. Make sure you have a valid visa and your passport with you. However, if you are not looking for temp work, it can take up to a month for your choice of job to employ you, so be prepared for some downtime until you get that job. I hope that this is helpful :) over 7 years ago

And yes, you can make enough money to live off of - and if you serve, remember that you usually get free meals. Brits do not tend to tip so be prepared. You can rent out rooms which include cable/internet/share house for 100pounds/week or less. Make sure when booking your holidays for travel to do so in advance - you will not only get the best hotel rates (travelodge sometimes offers rates for as low as 19 pounds/night in the UK and 9 pounds a night in Spain) but the best flight prices too.... Just keep away from the tourist pubs which charge more and ask the locals for the best local... you'll save quite a few bob if you do :) over 7 years ago

Where are the best places to stay and eat on a budget in London ?

If you book in advance, you can usually get reasonable rates at hotels - but not in central London. I would highly recommend if on an incredibly tight budget you don't eat out. Go to the local Tesco or Morrison's or Sainsbury's for your shopping instead. They are reasonably priced - but stay out of the "convenience" style store - such as Sainsbury's Local - they charge more for their groceries than a regular grocery store. You can always go to the local for a pint but make sure even then you shop around :) over 7 years ago
