Where can I see tea plantations near Kuala Lumur?

There are tea plantations at Cameron Highlands, as well as vegetable farms and other nurseries. Best to book via an agent and take a tour bus there from KL. It is probably best to stay 1 or 2 nights and you can also fit in a tour of The Sungei Palas Tea Centre - open daily fm 9am to 4.30pm (except Monday). Free admission. over 8 years ago

what's the best food court in singapore?

Not sure how I would define 'best food court' for you. A lot of the food courts around Singapore are great places where the locals frequent. My favorite is Clarke Quary http://www.clarkequay.com.sg/ You'll know why when you see some pix from this site. Other neighborhood food courts are great too, they are located near the bus hubs/terminals. A couple of my favorites are Aljunied and Ang Mo Kio. over 9 years ago

What is your best travel tip for backpackers interested in going to Fiji?

If Fiji is your direct and only destination on your trip, pack only T-shirts, shorts, flip-flop, swimmers and a light sweater for nights. The weather is tropical. My next best tip for you is to pack insect repellent - keeps you sane and have restful nights. about 9 years ago

    Hong Kong hotel recommendation?

Wow. That's a big open question. How much do you want to spend? Where do you need to be? What do you need? You can't actually need everything a hotel may have to offer. Comfortable would narrow down the field to 4 or 5 star hotels. Try here - hope it helps: http://www.hotelclub.com/Hong-Kong/Hong-Kong-hotels/ almost 9 years ago

What are some things I do can do in 5 days in Kuala Lumpur?

If you're one for sightseeing, don't miss the KL Tower, Petronas Twin Towers (tours are open on particular days with limited numbers, so first-in, best dressed), Jalan Petaling Street Market, Visit Sunway Lagoon for some theme park and water park fun. There are plenty of shopping malls; local favorites include Mid Valley shopping complex, the Bukit Bintang shopping strip (with Lot 10, Sungei Wang plaza, etc). If you don't mind going out of KL a little, I suggest do a day tour or stay overnight at Genting Highlands - take the tour bus. Genting Highlands is located at the top of a hill with cooler weather. It has the hotel with the most room in the world (per Guinness World Records), casino, theme park, shops, restaurants. You have the option of taking a cable car from halfway up the hill. over 8 years ago

Any tips re: safest way to transport 1 and 2yo children from Singapore airport to CBD in taxi? any taxis with child restraints

I agree with Dan's answer that there is no legal requirement for child restraints in taxis. If you feel safer, bring your own baby capsule. The highways and roads are the best in SE Asia and the taxi drivers are highly courteous. I lived in Singapore prior and have not heard of any bad traffic accidents. Other options are the public transport, which is one of the best in the world - MRT (Mass Rapid Transit - train/subway), buses (generally air conditioned and clean). You probably want to stick to taxis after an 8 hour flight from Australia. over 9 years ago

How safe is the Bukit Bintang area in Kuala Lumpur?

This is a safe shopping area. By 'safe', I mean that you will be able to do what you normally do when you go shopping and sightseeing. However, this area is known to be a tourist hotspot and therefore you will need to take the normal precautions such as be aware of your surroundings and who's around you. The area has many pick-pockets and purse snatchers. Shops should have fixed prices too. Be cautious if a price isn't marked as that item is probably marketed with high price to tourists. almost 8 years ago
