One day in Berlin - where should I visit and how to go there?

Definitely go to the Soviet Memorial at Treptower Park (SBahnhof Treptower Park on the Ringbahn)- it is a memorial built after WWII for the fallen soldiers from the Soviet Union and it is probably the most intense, overwhelming memorials I have ever been to. The museum underneath the Holocaust Memorial is worth a visit too- and it's free. Also, check out Tacheles- an abandoned building that used to house a bunch of cool artists selling their stuff. They are going to tear it down soon which is really sad but it is very East Berlin and definitely worth it. over 9 years ago

What are your recomendations for visiting berlin?

Soviet Memorial at Treptower Park (and the park in general- it's beautiful and right on the River Spree), The Olympic Stadium, Mauerpark on Sundays where they have an awesome flea market and karaoke in the park, Turkish Market (Tuesdays and Thursdays) at the Schönleinstrasse station on the U8 where you can stock up on loads of fruits and vegetables for very cheap, Schloss (palace) Charlottenburg - going inside the palace costs about 8euro but the outside is beautiful and behind the palace there is a lovely lake you can sit by, Jewish Museum, Tempelhof - it used to be an operating domestic airport but was shut down in 2008, however they kept the building up and the rest of the space is now a giant public park - great place to grill in the summer...and there is still lots more but those are definitely worth checking out! over 9 years ago

Where is a good place to stay in Berlin?

baxpax Hostels are really great- 3 locations in Berlin (2 of which are in central Berlin, "Mitte"), they are funky and fun and still affordable. The downtown location has a rooftop terrace with a pool and bar. Everything from a double room to a studio apartment to a dorm style room. Very clean and well-maintained, super friendly staff with a lot of knowledge about Berlin. Lots of cool people to meet during your travels at baxpax, definitely recommend it! over 9 years ago
