What is the best way to get from Istanbul to Izmir?

Fly with Turkish Airways direct if you have the budget. Book direct on their website for cheaper fares. Take a ferry over to Bandirma and then train to Izmir. About a 8-9 hour trip, very clean and nice, and very cheap. Leaves daily at 0700 from Istanbul. It has been a while but I think it cost us about $25US each. Or there is a bus which is also is very nice but I recommend the ferry/train option as it is well worth the views and the comfort. about 9 years ago

Can I catch a bus from Aswan to Djibouti or Eritrea?

There is no bus that I am aware of. You will need to fly or catch a ride with someone crossing Lake Nasser on the ferry, then take your chances in Wadi Halfa. Short of having your own transport I suggest you fly. about 9 years ago

    malarone tablets are they genuine

Be careful with Doxy as it can cause huge photo-sensitivity in certain people and I can tell you it is very unpleasant! Tanzania is home to the chloroquine-resistant strain of malaria so Malarone (or Fansidar - but watch out for psycho dreams and mad reactions) is your best bet. If you are not stopping over anywhere on the way to Tanzania, (where you can visit a local doctor who may have the equivalent of Malarone), then you could chance arriving in Tanzania and getting something on arrival. Not ideal but still a workable solution. Any chemist, hospital and doctor in the larger cities have malaria prophylactics on hand. Either way make sure you get the best thing you can for YOU. Everyone reacts differently to medication and malaria treatment is no different. Make sure you cover up at sunset and sun rise and have a bottle of anti-mossie spray handy at all times. about 9 years ago

How to get to the Victoria Falls?

You can also fly directly into Vic Falls airport, Zimbabwe if you like. However the cheapest flights are with https://www.1time.aero/ landing in Livingstone. Leave room in your budget for both visa's. :) about 9 years ago

The cost of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro

Hi Steven, If you can get it for $800 I would take it as on average you should pay around $1200 pp for the guided 5 day Marangu Route climb. Be careful who you book with though. They must be qualified and insured with the proper authorities. Have fun! Tania about 9 years ago
