If I were to back pack across Canada where are some recommended stops that are worth seeing?

Where to begin? Canada is vast, beautiful and different in every province & territory. Here's my recommendations: Whistler to snowboard or ski in winter or mountain bike & chill at Lost Lake. Vancouver to explore Stanley Park, Kits Beach, Granville Island & if you're adventurous, hike the Grouse Grind. Penticton & Kelowna for the wine, the sun, the lakes. Vicki already mentioned Banff & Jasper which are absolute must sees. Also check out Lake Louise & do the Johnston Canyon hike to the Ink Pots. You won't regret it. Calgary tower, Ranchman's to ride the mechanical bull and COP or Canada Olympic Park - you can have-at-er on the Luge! Go camping in Manitoba's cottage country & party at Grand Beach. Do some rock climbing in Ontario, partake in the nightlife in Toronto, watch a Jays game at Skydome & stand on the glass floor looking down at CN Tower. Niagra falls are phenomenal & Maid of the Mist takes you up close and personal to them. Check it out then drink more wine from the Niagra region. Montreal, well, it's just a fabulous city. There is loads of history in Old Montreal, the Cathedral Notre Dame is stunning if you like old architecture. I can't say I've been to Quebec City, but if you have the chance to see Crashed Ice there, do it! The Maritimes! OMG, what amazing cities and towns. Beautiful to see in autumn. The Territories are cold in winter but incredibly friendly & astounding in summer. That's about it in a nutshell ;) about 8 years ago
