I am German and have been to Berlin as a tourist. If you stau in Berlin for just one day, I would recommend you visit the 'Reichstag', the German parliament. It is only a few minutes to go from the station. You may go on the roof, where you have a nice view on the governmental quarter including the 'Kanzleramt', the German White House ;-) Next stop should be the Brandenburger Tor and the traditional hotel 'Adlon'. From there, walk along Berlin's biggest Boulevard 'unter den Linden'. All these attractions are very close together (about a Mile) Visiting Berlin, I strongly recommend to take a lesson in history. World history has been writen in the divided city. Go and see the remains of the Berlin Wall and you must visit the Checkpoint Charlie museum. It is one of the best exhibitions I have ever seen. Even if you dislike museums, it is highly recommendable. Everything is explained in English, too. If there is time left for you, the Kurfürstendamm is a nice Boulevard to walk along and if you like, do Somerset shopping. Have fun the German capital! almost 8 years ago
We are planning to visit Sylt Germany in September. Where would a low priced, good place to stay be? Also, what attractions should we see?
Sylt is a very nice Island to visit. It is said to be one of the most exclusive places in Germany. You should definetly consider to rent an appartement there. Many people offer holiday flats around Westerland and Wenningstedt. Search the internet for a nice accomodation near those cities. It is the best place to go. Once there, you should definetly discover the whole island. It is very beautiful! The harbors of List and Hörnum are worth a trip. If you are interested in birds, you can visit the national bird park. Another idea would be to take a tour with a boat. You can either visit a Hallig, a very small island with only one or two inhabitants or visit the sand banks, where you can watch seals. Need more ideas? ;-) Ask me! almost 8 years ago
