Which locations provide the best chance of seeing the Big 5 in Kenya?

Hi, I just came back from Kenya and Tanzania. The elephant orphanage is the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. The babies come running in for their bottle fed formula- We are all behind ropes in a big square. We could reach out and touch a baby when it walked by, we didn't (in my experience) get to go up and have any personal interaction because they will be reintroduced back into the wild so minimal contact with us. Fun to watch their bottle feeding and romping and sheer exhilaration of playing in the mud. I would recommend visiting the Giraffe Center (Nairobi)- I got kissed by big Edd, great photo op. We saw rhino at Lake Nakuru but at a distance. Must stay on roads, no 4 wheeling around to get better/ up close views. (5 of them in 2 different places) We did not go to Masai Mara which I had heard wonderful things about- it just wasn't on our itinerary. No rhino at Ngorongoro crater or on the Serengeti- not to say they aren't there, we didn't see them. On a side note: Botswana- Rhino are only on Chief's Island so we didn't see them on that trip since Chief's Island was not on our itinerary. 5 months ago

    Why take out travel insurance?

My thoughts on travel insurance... I ask myself: Does this country have the medical technology if I get hurt to put me back together or to treat whatever is wrong with me. (Think worst case scenario!) Basically, the more 'third worldish' the country is, the answer is YES. I've gotten insurance for Botswana, Kenya, Tanzania, India, Nepal, China, Antarctica and Costa Rica the last few years. Also to protect your investment if the trip is expensive like Antarctica. 5 months ago
