is a Question and Answer (Q&A) site for travellers to get answers from locals who know. Travellr works by recommending questions in real-time to other members who are nearby and likely to know about the topic of interest. Your questions aren't answered from a single source - they are provided by a world-wide community of travelers who collectively share their travel insights and local advice. Travellr is created and moderated by you and your fellow travellers.

Our aim is simple - to be able to give you great answers to your travel questions from locals who know.

Isn't Travellr just another travel forum?

Unlike a traditional forum, Travellr uses a real-time recommendation engine that routes your questions to locals and past visitors with similar interests. This means we can source the best possible answers to your questions from the community.

Here's a few more reasons why Travellr is different from a travel forum:

  • We intelligently profile your questions and answers to help us connect you with the best match to answer your question.
  • We connect with Twitter and Facebook to send questions to a wider audience and hunt down an answer.
  • All content is geo-tagged with a city, region and country - so you can pinpoint and search for answers in specific locations.

I don't have time to check another website every day

We notify you via e-mail with answers to your questions, so you don’t have to check back every day. You can also tell Travellr how often you want to be notified with questions you might be able to answer.

How did Travellr get started?

Inspired by a love of travel and web technology, Ian Cumming (founder) and his team developed the concept of building a question and answer (Q&A) engine for travelers around the world to share their travel knowledge. After packing his bags and working on the website from internet cafes in South-East Asia, Ian launched in early 2009. Six months later World Nomads Group invested in the business, and the Travellr team moved to Sydney where it is now based.
