Stop and spend time at Big Sur where you can drive thru the middle of a huge redwood as well as park on a fallen one. Also, plan on touring Hearst Castle at Sam Simeon. W@hen you arrive in Paso Robles plan on spending a day wine tasting if you are a wine lover. At least 150 wineries in the region and many are excellent. over 3 years ago

The 17 mile drive in Carmel is amazing, especially if the sky is clear.
Cambria is a great place to stop and shop and eat at, just before you turn onto Highway 46 to go to Paso Robles. Highway 46 has beautiful wineries you can stop at for tastings, but they do close at 5:00 pm. over 3 years ago
