Has anyone has used airbnb to book accommodation in NYC? Is it ok? Also, upper East Side, Downtown, Village, Westside etc....where to stay?

If you haven't been to NYC before, Midtown is probably the best location. You are smack bang in the middle of things, good access to subways and a lot of stuff (Times Square, Empire State) is walking distance. Try Hotel Stanford - fantastic location, very close to Broadway, subway and an excellent pizza shop!!! Good standard and affordable. http://www.hotelstanford.com/ over 1 year ago

Can you do the Road to Hana and Haleakala NP in one day?

Not if you acutally want to enjoy yourself! The road to Hana (and back) can be done in one day if you like, however if you have the time, staying the night in Hana is a good idea. It's a long drive, that can be slow depending on the traffic - but definitely worth it. Giving yourself more time also allows you to see much more at the Hana end like hiking up to the pools of Oheo. Try and get up to the top of Haleakala for sunrise - it's freezing, so wear warm clothing. The sunrise is amazing! 12 months ago
